    Baked challah french toast

    our fave holiday breakfast

    1 loaf of day old challah, sliced

    to a bowl add

    6 eggs

    1 cup milk

    2/3 cup ricotta

    splash of vanilla

    pinch of salt

    the zest of 1 lemon or orange

    whisk until smooth

    to another bowl add

    6 tbsp brown sugar

    1.5 tsp cinnamon

    1/8 tsp nutmeg

    to a large baking dish add 1/4 cup of melted butter then layer in the sliced challah

    pour the egg mixture over the challah, evenly. covering all the bread

    top with the brown sugar mixture and cover. refrigerate over night.

    next morning, cover with tin foil and bake at 350 for 30 mins. uncover and bake for another 15.

    top with blueberry syrup (blueberries and maple syrup cooked down on the stove) and finish with powdered sugar!
