Classic Lemon Pound Cake

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups sugar
  2. 3 cups cake flour
  3. 3 sticks unsalted butter room temperature
  4. 5 eggs
  5. 1 cup milk
  6. 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
  7. 1/4 tsp. Salt
  8. 1 tbsp. Lemon extract
  9. 1/2 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
  10. Zest of 1 lemon
  11. Juice of 1 lemon
  12. Glaze
  13. 1 cup powdered sugar
  14. 2 tbsp lemon juice, possibly more
  15. Lemon extract

Cooking Instructions

  1. Step 1Preheat oven to 320 degrees
  2. Step 2Cream butter and sugar until fluffy about 10 minutes
  3. Step 3Mix flour, salt and baking powder set aside
  4. Step 4Add eggs one at a time
  5. Step 5Alternate flour and milk beginning and ending with flour.
  6. Step 6Add flavoring and lemon juice
  7. Step 7Place batter floured pan and bake for 1 hour and 10-15 minutes.
  8. Step 8For the glaze combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice and lemon extract and continue to add juice until desired consistency and apply to warm cake.
